This project started with a call from a homeowner in Mississauga who was looking to install new railings on her front porch. The reason was personal and urgent: her mother, a senior, was coming to visit, and safety was a major concern. The existing setup didn’t provide the stability or confidence her mother would need.

We booked a visit and met her at the property.

A Simple Railing Quote — and an Honest Moment

During our consultation, we walked her through different railing options and showed her our full portfolio of completed projects across the GTA. As we talked, she became fascinated with flagstone porches — the texture, the elegance, the transformation they bring to a home’s entrance.

She loved the idea.

But she was honest.

Selecting the Flagstone & Preparing the Porch

We returned with flagstone samples, explained the options, and helped her choose the style that best fit her home. She selected a black granite flagstone, which would later create a beautiful contrast with the new railing.

The porch already had a solid concrete base, which allowed us to move forward efficiently without compromising structural integrity.

Once everything was approved, we got to work.

The first step was demolition:

• Removal of the old wooden railing
• Removal of the existing wooden column
• Full surface preparation over the concrete base

The Final Design: Clean, Safe, and Timeless

For the final installation, the homeowner chose:

• R12 Open Style aluminum railing
• White powder-coated finish
• 4” aluminum column
• Black granite flagstone porch

The contrast was striking yet elegant. The white railing framed the entrance beautifully, while the dark flagstone added depth, character, and a high-end finish. More importantly, the new setup provided safe, reliable support for her mother’s visit.
